Ricardo Kanji, flute

Fernando Cordella, presentation

The sixth episode of our didactic series on the instruments of Bach's time presents the flute family and its prominent role in baroque music. Our special guest is Ricardo Kanji, flutist, conductor and international reference in researching musical performance at the time. The maestro presents his collection of instruments, walks through the development of the flute family in Western music, and shares stories from his journey. The conversation is complemented by excerpts from his participation in the Brandenburg Concerto with the Ensemble Bach Brasil, featuring the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Bernhard Bach.

The twenty-ninth concert of the Bach Brasil series has the support of the Goethe Institut and funding from patrons and supporters of the Bach Society Brasil.
