Project Building Culture Bach Christmas Cantata 2022

 

The Construindo Cultura project of the Associação Orquestra Sinfônica de Carazinho joins forces with the Bach Society Brasil to carry out a cycle of concerts in the state. There will be presentations for the public and also didactic presentations for public schools in Porto Alegre and Carazinho.

 

On the program, we will have Orchestral Suite No. 1 BWV 1066, accompanied by original choreography from period manuscripts, performed by dancer Maira Alves. The Austrian bass Norbert Steidl and the tenor Marcus Loureiro, specialist soloists, will present the Christmas cantata BWV 62, alongside the Ensemble Bach Brasil and guest musicians under the artistic direction of Fernando Cordella. The concert is held through the public notice FAC Artes de spectacle of the State Department of Culture of Rio Grande do Sul.

Born in Linz, Austria, he graduated as a master of singing at the University Mozarteum Salzburg in 2007. He participated in the Salzburg Festival under Ricardo Muti in operas by Paisiello and Mozart. 

 

Sang  Leporello (Don Giovanni) at Beijing 21st Century Theater, Masetto (Don Giovanni) at TMSP, Melisso (Alcina) at São Pedro Theater in São Paulo, Ottokar (Der Freischütz) and Vater ( Hänsel und Gretel) at Teatro Guaíra in Curitiba, Geronimo (Il matrimonio segreto) in several theaters in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, Parmenione (L'ocassione fa il ladro) in Curitiba, Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) in Salzburg, among other roles.  

 

He has performed in numerous concerts as a soloist in the great oratories of Handel, Bach, Haydn, Brahms in different countries in Europe and Latin America. 

FERNANDO CORDELLA, artistic director

 

Fernando Turconi Cordella is considered one of the leading harpsichordists of his generation in Latin America. He received the TOYP JCI award as the most expressive figure in Brazil in 2015, in the “Cultural Success” category. He has acted as soloist and guest conductor in the main orchestras in Brazil and abroad. He worked on projects with Luis Otávio Santos, Nathalie Stutzmann, Peter van Heyghen, Olivia Centurioni, Roman Garrioud, Michaela Comberti, Rodolfo Richter, among others. He is professor of harpsichord and coordinator of the Baroque Music Workshop at the Municipal School of Music of São Paulo – EMMSP and artistic director of Sociedade Bach Brasil. Trained as a pianist, he had his main guidance through the Brazilian pianist Dirce Knijnik. On the harpsichord, Nicolau de Figueiredo was his great master. Winner of the 2011 Açorianos Award as best performer for the album “CRAVOS – de Frescobaldi a Mozart”.


 

MARCUS LOUREIRO, tenor

 

He began his musical studies on the piano at the Municipal School of Music in São Paulo. In the EMMSP Children's Choir conducted by Maestrina Mara Campos, he sang in the operas "La Gioconda" and "João e Maria" at Theatro Municipal de São Paulo in 2006, and in the same year he was invited to be a soloist at the Opera "Olga". In 2011, he joined UNESP in the conducting course. He was a member of the Coral Jovem do Estado conducted by Naomi Munakata, and of the OSESP Academic Choir conducted by Marcos Thadeu. “Lauda per la Natività del Signore” by Ottorino Respighi and “Missa de Santa Cecilia” by Charles Gounod. He was a student of vocal technique with Tenor Gilberto Chaves and Isabel Maresca, and is currently supervised by Lidia Schäffer and Juliana Starling.
